High-quality luxury brand sunglasses are expensive. Their price ranges from a couple of hundred euros to several thousand. The world's most expensive Chopard sunglasses are decorated with diamonds and gold, and their value is comparable to that of a private house.
Although sunglasses are not cheap, buyers favor them because of their high quality, comfort, and eye protection from UV rays. Unfortunately, however, counterfeits of expensive and high-quality sunglasses appear on the market. Manufacturers of Ray-Ban and Oakley sunglasses suffer the most from this, but the market also has no shortage of counterfeits of other brands.
Every year, sunglass fakes become more similar to the originals, and it is increasingly difficult for the buyer to distinguish which is a counterfeit and which is not. Previously, it was easier to spot the difference because the quality of the fake glasses was noticeably lower than the real brand glasses, but now the difference may not even be noticed at first glance; it only becomes apparent after a few uses of the glasses. Therefore, we have compiled important tips that will help you understand whether the sunglasses are original and whether the manufacturer's name on them is fake.

1. Sunglasses Cases and PouchesLuxury brand sunglasses are not sold without a pouch or case, so make sure the sunglasses and their case are a matching set. Brand websites usually have both images and videos where you can see what kind of case should be included with the specific sunglasses. Typically, a small slip of paper with manufacturer information about the product is included in the case/pouch: it contains the sunglasses' number, color code, and other data. 2. Sunglasses Arms (Temples)Check whether there is information about the glasses on the inside of the sunglasses' arms. There should definitely be the model number, color code, and the size of the lens and frame. There should also be information about the country where the glasses were manufactured. 3. LensesDesigner sunglasses have high-quality lenses (or "glasses" in this context). If you have doubts about the authenticity of the glasses, gently tap the lens to confirm that it is glass and not plastic. 4. Brand MarkMany sunglasses manufacturers embed a small brand logo in the corner of the lens. Make sure that the brand mark on the sunglasses lens does not rub off when you run your finger or nail over it. 5. HingesThe arms of the sunglasses should fold and unfold easily and quietly. If the sunglasses are inconvenient or even difficult to fold, ask the seller for additional information about the glasses and check if they are a counterfeit. 6. PriceIf the price of the sunglasses is unbelievably low, be especially careful; it is highly likely that they are not the original glasses but a counterfeit. Price alone is not the decisive indicator, but if there are several suspicious signs, you should seriously reconsider whether such a purchase is necessary and won't quickly lead to disappointment. To protect their products from counterfeiting, many brands have developed guidelines for determining whether the glasses are their brand. Here, we will provide the guidelines developed by four popular brands to determine whether sunglasses are original or not. |

Oakley
Like most designer glasses, original Oakley glasses come with information that confirms the product's authenticity. Furthermore, a warranty certificate must also be included.
Oakley attaches great importance to the material of the glasses. If the paint starts to peel off the plastic parts of the purchased glasses, it is definitely not the original product. Oakley uses only pre-dyed plastic in the manufacture of their glasses, from which the color cannot come off.
Oakley does not place its brand mark (the letter 'O') on the lens, but rather on the arm (temple). It is not removable. For models that have an indication of polarized glass on the lens, it is printed, not a sticker.
The product number is embedded on the inside of the original glasses' arm. This can also be used to verify the authenticity of the specific glasses.
The arms of several Oakley sunglass models are partially made of rubber. This rubber is always soft and comfortable for the user and differs greatly from hard and less comfortable plastic.

Ray-BanThe lenses of Ray-Ban glasses feature the marking "Ray Ban," "RB," or "Ray Ban P"—all of which indicate the original product. Check the sunglasses case—it must be in excellent condition and brand new, without a single scratch. The font used on both the sunglasses and the box must be the same. There is information on the inside of the glasses' arm (temple) that can be used to search for and identify the glasses online. This usually includes the product code, the sunglasses' color, and the country of manufacture. |

Burberry
Burberry glasses also have information on the inside of the arm (temple), but one must be especially careful with this—counterfeit goods can also have a product code on the arm, which is why other information is important: designer glasses should also have information on the arm regarding their length, color, and lens diameter.
Non-original Burberry glasses are inconvenient to fold and unfold, and the arms may feel unstable.
PradaPay attention to how the word PRADA is written, especially the letter R in the Prada logo. The R in the authentic Prada logo is very recognizable. On the latest models, the logo is engraved in the corner of the left lens. At first glance, it may be unnoticeable. |
