1. PROTECTION FROM UV RADIATION
Ultraviolet radiation, or UV, is divided into three categories. UV-C is absorbed by the Earth's ozone layer and does not reach us in a harmful way. However, UV-A and UV-B radiation can affect human health.
The strength of ultraviolet radiation is determined by the UV Index. In Latvia, this index is 0-2, or low, in autumn and winter. This means that if the weather is cloudy, wearing sunglasses is not necessary.
However, it is advisable to protect your eyes on sunny days, especially if it has snowed. Then, the light is particularly bright and can harm the eyes. On a sunny day, fresh and clean snow can reflect up to 80% of UV radiation—therefore, the radiation level must be calculated as double.

2. PROTECTION IN WINDY WEATHER
If you stay outside for a long time on a winter day, it is advisable to protect your eyes from the cold winter winds, which can cause irritation and dryness, especially in combination with strong sunlight. Sunglasses will provide mechanical protection against both the cold air and dust.
3. SAFETY WHILE DRIVING
Just like in summer, we want to be sure of road visibility when getting behind the wheel during the cold months of the year. Furthermore, in winter, snow and ice create additional glare, which is why drivers are advised to use sunglasses all year round, despite the sun shining less frequently during this time.
4. HEADACHES AND FINE WRINKLES
The pupils control how much light reaches the retina of the eye. For example, in low light, the pupils dilate to increase the amount of light. Conversely, in bright light, they constrict to reduce the amount of light.
If the sunlight is very strong, the pupil cannot constrict enough, and this is compensated for by squinting the eyes. Being in this state for a long time creates two undesirable effects. Firstly, prolonged squinting can lead to headaches. Secondly, it contributes to the formation of fine wrinkles around the eyes.
We often forget our sunglasses at home precisely in autumn and winter and subject our eyes to unnecessary strain for a long time in sunny weather.

5. STYLE
Both classic and eccentric spectacle frames can be perfectly matched with your winter wardrobe, allowing you not only to protect your eyes but also to look great during this season. Here are a few ideas:
-
Modern Versace sunglasses will especially suit an ensemble featuring a warm coat or an elegant fur coat.
-
For a sporty style—with parkas, puffy jackets, scarves, and hats—it's easy to match both classic and more unusual Polo Ralph Lauren frames. Particularly trendy this season are the sporty models, which not only protect the eyes from all angles but also demonstrate the wearer's excellent sense of style.

For a more eccentric style, choose the new collection Burberry spectacle frames—they will serve as a chic accent. Furthermore, colored, light lenses will be very useful on days when the sun is duller, but quality sunglasses with a UV filter are still needed.
The Bergamo consultants will help you choose the most suitable pair for every season—this store recently opened in the Sky&More shopping center and has a very wide selection of high-fashion brand sunglasses. The range of goods at Bergamo is designed so that everyone can find what best suits their style—from the sporty look to an ensemble worthy of a fashion show.
